Huddersfield Community First is a local charity which was officially launched in 2018 as a community organisation. The organisation was founded on a mission to make Huddersfield a place where everyone The organisation registered as a CIO in 2025.
We begin by showing up for people where they are. Whether it’s a food parcel, a grant, or a warm meal, our frontline work ensures no one is left behind. Every act of service is delivered with dignity and purpose.
We create space for people to take control of their lives through mentoring, training, advocacy and tailored support, we help individuals move from crisis to stability. Empowerment is about equipping people with the tools to thrive, not just survive.

The organisation was founded by Mohammed Abubakar. Mohammed is a dedicated community leader with a strong track record of impactful service, strategic leadership, and grassroots engagement. With over a decade of experience working at the intersection of faith, community development, and social justice, he has consistently championed initiatives that uplift the most vulnerable in society.
A qualified Imam and seasoned educator, he has led numerous community-based projects focused on poverty relief, youth development, education, and civic engagement. His work has brought together diverse communities, strengthened local partnerships, and delivered real, measurable outcomes on the ground.
Known for his ability to combine vision with action, Mohammed has advised, trained, and mobilised hundreds of volunteers and professionals across sectors. He also serves as a trustee and advisor to numerous organisations across the charity and education sectors.
This organisation was born from his belief that real change begins from the ground with service, but must go further. His leadership continues to guide the organisation’s mission to serve, empower and uplift.
