Zakat Hub

Our Zakat Hub is a dedicated support service designed to help individuals in Huddersfield who may be eligible for Zakat. It provides a safe and confidential space for people to have their circumstances assessed fairly and with dignity.

For this service we have partnered with the National Zakat Foundation.

The hub focuses on understanding your financial situation in detail, so that any Zakat support given is accurate, responsible, and in line with Islamic principles.

How to apply:

To apply, you must first book an appointment for a Zakat assessment. All assessments take place in person at the Clare Hill Centre (HD1 5BS).
At your appointment, a member of our team will ask a number of questions about your finances, income, and spending. This helps us understand your situation fully and determine whether you are eligible for Zakat support.
The assessment will take approximately 15 minutes.
You will be required to bring documents to support your assessment. These may include:

  • Photo ID
  • Proof of address
  • Recent bank statements
  • Benefit letters (if applicable)

The exact list of documents you need will be confirmed once your appointment is booked.

If your application is accepted, support is expected to be provided within 10 working days following the assessment. No cash will be given by Huddersfield Community First. Instead support will be provided through a Post Office secure payment link and will be emailed to
you.

Please note that booking an assessment appointment does not guarantee Zakat support. All applications are assessed based on need and eligibility.

All applicants are expected to treat our staff and volunteers with respect and courtesy at all times. Any abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour may result in the assessment being refused or ended, and we reserve the right to reject an application where this standard is not met. This policy is in place to protect the dignity and wellbeing of everyone using and delivering the service.

Please note: due to limited funds, if an application is accepted, this support can usually only be accessed once within a 12-month period.
